In honor of its famed native son, Newport Beach, Wayne Enterprises and the Newport Beach Film Festival will commemorate the Duke
’s (John Wayne) 100th year with screenings of the movies that made him a star, including “The Sands of Iwo Jima” (1949), “Rio Bravo” (1959) and “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance” (1962).

It has Been LEGAL to Unlock Your Cell Phone Since November 2006!

The Library of Congress (who knew they were in charge of this) issued a new rule in 2006 making it legal to unlock cell phones for the "purpose of lawfully connecting to a wireless telephone communication network." Looks like using the iPhone with T-Mobile may not be a problem after all. Why haven't there been more stories about this?

News comes from SXSW that the popular video podcast, Rocketboom, will later today launch its own Digg-like social news site. Built using the open-source content management system, Pligg, the new site will allow viewers to create a profile, submit and vote on stories for possible inclusion in the show, as well as leave threaded comments.
